Chesapeake Bay CrabsWhat started as a small festival at City Dock in downtown Annapolis to celebrate the seafood bounty of the bay has grown to a festival extravaganza held at Sandy Point State Park near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. The Maryland Seafood Festival is a delightful way to spend time eating great seafood, browsing the many arts and craft booths and listening to some wonderful entertainment. There is even some great entertainment and learning experiences for the kids. The menu is scrumptious and even if seafood is not your thing there will be a wonderful variety of food items to please any palette.

Chesapeake Bay OystersEach year there is a crab soup cook off, a crab eating contest and a crab pickin contest. And the awards for the 'Diamond Jim' Fishing Contest held each year will b presented as well. It doesn't get any better than this when one wants to enjoy what Maryland is truly all about.

Tickets can be bought online through tomorrow Sept. 6th for $12.00 or at the gate for $14.00. Bring a canned food with you and receive a $2.00 discount at the gate.

There is limited parking at Sandy Point State Park and once full you will need to head to AA Community College on College Parkway where free shuttle bus service will take you to the festival. The park charges $5.00 a car to park there and the college is asking for a $5.00 donation per car to park there but as I said, the shuttle bus is free. Shuttle service hours are Saturday 9:30 am till 10pm and Sunday 9:30am till 8pm.

The Maryland Seafood Festival is a wonderful tradition to share with friends and family so come on out and enjoy.

I may have to find my way out there for this.  I love seafood.  And it's been over 15 years since I was in Annapolis.

Wow, wish I was going to be in the area. This would be great fun, being the sea-foodie that I am. What could be better that crab from the Cghesapeake?

Oh My God, Martha,  I want some so bad.  Needless to say, we are lacking good seafood in Denver.  I wish I was there, I am so hungry for seafood now.
