Annapolis Md Homes and More: May Day in Historic Downtown Annapolis

May Day in Historic Downtown Annapolis

May Day in Historic Downtown Annapolis

Years ago when I worked downtown I loved each May 1 when the businesses and the residents in historic downtown would hang their flower baskets out for all to see and for some to judge. All these years later it is still being done and the flowers and creativity never cease to amaze. Here are a few I saw today while making my way along Duke of Gloucester St and Main St downtown.

May Day traditions are as old asd as varied as can be. Dancing around a May Day Pole is still celebrated in many parts of the land. As for us, and many more like us, May Day baskets filled with flowers has become a beautiful rite of spring right here in historic downtown Annapolis.

May Day used to be a big event, but it has been mostly lost in the hectic world we call home.

I think the flower baskets are a cool tradition. Our May Day here in Connecticut  when I cam currently was cool rainy and very foggy to start but has turned out to be a beautiful day. I'll have to note in my travels about the May baskets.

Tradition is a good thing . . .  . and passed on the future generations.

Good luck and success.
